Hi Everyone,

I've been a member of this forum for a while, I have just never posted anything until now. I recently purchased my first Leica, an M6 Classic, which is just awesome, I've been having a blast shooting film again, and it is such a welcome change from the DSLR's I've been shooting for the last few years.

Anyways, I noticed the other day that the rangefinder is out of whack a bit vertically. What I mean is the two images that I am trying to line up, one is a bit lower than the other one, so when I am focusing the two images don't really 'snap' together.

Is there an easy way to fix this? I like to try and fix my camera's myself before I take them in for repair.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Cheers,

Trevor

Your M6 needs a special tool for vertical adjustment. While the original used to be impossible to find, you can now buy a replica, made my Mr. Zhou (who also does the Zhou Leica cases). See here, for instance: 170316167281@ebay.

Best,

Roland.

No special tool is necessary actually, although it would be helpful. I adjusted mine with just two jewelry screwdrivers. There are two layers of metal plates and the tool just slides one over the other. You can do the same thing with small screwdrivers.

Thanks everyone, I think I will probably take it in to kindermann's. It is off by such a slight amount that I can easily live with it for a while anyways, but an easy fix would be nice.

cheers,

Trevor
