M6 wax seal

I am not sure but when a m body has work done to it, does the wax seal on the screw above the lens mount have the wax replaced? If the wax is not there does this always show that the camera has been opened?

Actually, the seal was discontinued in 1981. The M6 never had anything but a screw at the 12 o'clock position.

Bonus trivia point - Various Leica repair people use their own seal in the 12:00 o'clock position. e.g. Sherry Krauter puts a "k" in the wax seal after she has CLA'd a camera.

My M4 was duly marked after service by DAG. The wax is black:
