When I was looking for a high-quality 35mm rangefinder, the Leica MP, M6, and M2 were numbers 1,2, and 3 on my list. The Zeiss, Voigtländer, and M7 were lower on my list.
I decided on an M6 because I found a good deal.
If I had to choose only between the Zeiss an the M7, I would pick the Zeiss because I preferred the Zeiss viewfinder.

A ZM is selling (based on sold listings) for between $1600 to $2500, average looking to be around $2000. The M7 between $2800 and $3300, average around $3000. I find it hard to believe these prices. The M6 and M4-2 selling for astronomical prices. Seems like the best deals for solid, well built cameras, are the M2 & M4. I keep think about selling my M7 (since I tend to gravitate to my M4) but just can't do it. Maybe when they hit $5000.
The Leica store in Miami had a couple M7s recently for north of 5 grand....

The uptick in M prices is certainly working back through time as nice Barnacks are being offered at much higher prices than a few years ago.

A bit crazy when MP’s are trading for about that (if you can find one).
