Where do I go to get the range finder adjusted on my M8? Do I have to send it back to Leica? It's my only digital and I'd hate to be away from it for an extended period.

Every time I focus on something, the object behind it is what is actually in Focus. It's getting annoying to have to compensate all the time. Because there are moments I forget.

It is easy and simple. In the top of the "mouth" of the banjonet you see a little wheel, that connects the helecoid of the lens to the rangefinder. In the centre of the wheel there is a hexagonal indentation that takes a 2 mm Allen wrench (inbus or hex wrench) Insert the wrench and turn slightly right or left until infinity adjustment is spot on. This means adjust, mounting the lens, checking, unmounting, adjust, etc. Note that on a Leica rangefinder infinity means infinity. Not a tree 100 yards away, better a star or at least something several miles away.

I'm not sure what happened with that link there but if you go to the Leica User Group forum - http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-forum/leica-m8-forum/ - and type 'adjusting rangefinder allen key' into the search box, you'll find quite a lot of useful info re: this topic.

Cheers

That is not Leica users group, that is Leica users forum - an altogether very friendly place. :)
