The other day a fellow RFF member stopped in my shop.He had an M8 with a Luigi 1/2 case.We talked things Leica and he kindly allowed my to hold his camera so I could get the feel of the case. My own M8 was hanging from the Leica strap. He said as he and his wife left..."you'll think about this case and order one".I thought about it over the weekend and took the plunge..It just arrived (thank you Luigi for great service). The case is a beauty and the strap great but the one thing that really sold me was the built in grip.It works well with my large hands. Thanks for listening. Regards,Bill

Luigi's work is unmatched. I briefly owned one of his cases, which was VERY comfortable and luxurious. I had to give it up because of my shooting habits (taking the SD card out became a 4-step process instead of just 2-steps.

While I would never have dreamed of paying for a new Luigi case, I did pick up a used one for my M8 and I do like the protection it offers against banging against things. I often use the bottom half of Leica cases on my film bodies, and the Luigi's is more like them than Leica's own leather M8 case which is quite a contraption! I actually find it less inconvenient than on film bodies because a 2GB SD card holds the equivalent of five rolls of film so I only have to remove it a fifth as often. Mine is the type with the completely removable back vs the flap (beggars can't be choosers
) but thankfully it only has the egg-shaped bump, not the bulbous grip which I don't care for.

Parameter, the grip on the Luigi case definitely improves the holding of your M8.
It works almost the same way as the Leica handgrip. Personaly I think the grip of either is better than the Tumbs-up but if you want to go the whole way on ergonomics, the tumbs-up will ad the nessecary rest for your thump. I might consider to ad the thumbs-up to my wish list and have the best of two worlds.

I went to another forum member's place to remove the E49 UV/IR glass to be put on the Milich adapter for my WATE. While the operation was being done, I made the mistake of picking up the forummer's M8 with the case and playing with it and the Noctilux. Bad mistake.
