M8: IR Filter question for colour photography

Hey guys,
I'm wondering if you can help me out here. I'm using a Leica M8 with a Voigtlander 35mm 1.4 and an F Pro B&W UV IR Cut Filter.

Here's my question, I'm shooting colour photography- does the B&W filter shift colours or desaturate colours or anything at all? Should I use a different IR cut filter for colour photography? My colour photos look great, but Im wondering if I can get even better results by using a different filter for everyday use.

No, the filter does not shift or desaturate the visible spectrum.

I shoot color but I don't need the filters. It's very convenient, but not necessary. When I use my M8 with those lenses I don't have a UV/IR cut filter, I simply process the Magenta channel and desaturate where necessary (which is 95% of cases synthetic fabric, which reflect infrared and gets registered as "purple", notably on seemingly black-dyed fabric).

So what do you do about the yellow cast on green foliage? The real magentas that you kill? The blotchy Caucasian skin tones? The general green cast you create by a general shift away from magenta? I find magenta blacks the least, albeit most obvious, part of the IR problem.And M8 color can be so good if you use the filter...They are essential.Shoot without them and you will be working in LAB color and using blending masks for half an hour per shot and even then the result will be barely acceptable.

Ummm... B&W is short for the names of the founders of the firm, which later merged with Schneider Optik: Biermann und Weber...🙄

Well, it is easier to order a "B&W 486" than a "Biermann und Weber GmbH infrared and ultraviolet cut filter” .😎
