As special editions go, this one is underwhelming.
Don't mix up secretive American venture capital groups with German and Austrian Aktiegesellschaften. Commercial/financial laws in both Germany and Austria are far more demanding regarding transparency than those of USA. With the same set of transparency in USA as in EU we hardly would have had a financial crisis on our hands, would we?
Mr Kaufman is an investor with wide ranging interests in particularly Austria. Sure. His investment in Leica is based on borrowed money. But he sure is no greenmailer. Tragicly: The Leica coffers were emptied long ago by the old owners. Herr Kaufman is the best thing that could happen to Leica.
Still, it could well be that this up and coming economical crisis could kill Leica - as we know it.
