I'm sorry, but what exactly are the innovations that make the M9 worth 3 times as much as an M8?
1) the crop factor 1.3x vs 1.0
2) 1 stop better ISO performance (remains to be seen)
3) no IR filters
for me, 1 does not really matter that much, especially if the M9 has higher noise in the corners, 3 I already have the IR filters, and for 2, well, for 5k I can afford to have faster lenses...
so, I don't really see the need to upgrade all that quickly...
now, if the M9 had similar high ISO performance to the D3x, without the corner vignetting, then we're talking. But as it seems so far, it doesn't really.
I almost wish they'd kept the MPix count to 10 while improving the high ISO performance...

Well the refurbs are going for as low as 2600 bucks ... and one of those gives me more comfort (despite my prior experience) because of the waranty. In a way ... now is a great time for a M8. Three years from now will likely be a great time for a M9.
With that strategy one can put their money where it makes the most good - in glass.

I'd expect old tele lenses above 50 to go up in price, while old version Noctilux prices decline a bit.
ah, that'd be nice--for noctilux 1.0 prices to drop. i'm trying to be patient--and am wondering if the M9 will have any effect on the noctilux pricing.

How long until the M8.2 hits below 2500.00 ya think?

Does anyone think there might be any special "trade in deals" to come for M8 owners, perhaps subsidized by the factory to dealers? D. Farkas seemed to imply that there might be some things ahead.
Otherwise, as with a couple of the computers I've gotten over the years, my best deals have been "last year's model." I'm still able to get A2 prints from my M8 with careful handling and upressing.
