Another vote for the 35/75 combo for the M8. My favorites are a pre-asph 35 Summilux and the later 75 Summilux. Wonderful lenses that seem to work well with the M8. If I add a third, its a 21, usually a 28 pre-asph Elmarit.

on the R-D1 at least I often use the CV 35/1.4SC and the Heliar 12/5.6. I've recently bought a v4 35mm Summicron, but not sure which to keep. 18mm/53mm is a pretty useful pair, and the 1.4 is quite compact. The 1.2 is great, but its weight (not size) is what sometimes puts me off a bit.

I choose the Summilux 50 ASPH and the Nokton 35 1.2 ASPH. I guess I like fast lenses, but it's also that these lenses are great all around.

Have the 35+50 Summiluxes on the M9. The 50 is just perfect. The 35 is the rare ASPHERICAL version, which works very well with the M9. It is the best (and most useful) 35 I had (the second being the 35/2 Biogon ZM)- and I tried two FLE lenses!.
I might swap the 50 Summilux for a Konica 60/1.2 Hexanon if I will ever find one decently priced.

Have 2 M8.2s...keep 28 Summicron asph on one, and 50 Summilux asph on the other. Both fantastic lenses, and resultant FOVs of about 37/67 just right for me.
When carrying one body, and traveling light, may substitute 35 Summicron asph...good overall small lens.

The 28mm Summicron is a natural fit with the M8. It has a near-universal balance of sharpness and contrast in combination with the camera's sensor. The crop factor makes it a more useful lens for me than it would be on a full-frame body.
The crop factor makes the choice of just one second lens a bit of a challenge for me. It's a toss-up between the 35mm Summicron ASPH and the 50mm Summilux ASPH, although both of them have higher contrast than the 28. If I had to choose, I would go with the 50.

Same choices as my post above yours.
I agree with your comments on the 28 Summicron asph on an M8/M8.2. In fact, it's one reason I'm reluctant to move to an M9, since I'd likely substitute (due to FOV) the 35 Summicron asph, which is a nice lens, but not as nice as the 28 on my M8.2.

On my M9 I'd definitely pick my 35mm pre-asph Summilux. The other one would be a toss-up though. I love my CV 75mm f/1.8 but I love my 21mm Super Angulon more. For love it would be the SA but for work it would be the 75.

I feel the same way. Well, other than the cost that is.
