I'm planning on getting an M8 within the next few weeks and so have been reading up on their issues. I'm wondering, will all M8s eventually have a "line issue" at which point they will need sending away, or does this just happen sometimes?
I have my eye on a couple of M8s. Would it be better to buy a cheaper one expecting it to need to be serviced at some point? Or get one with 3 month warranty during which time, any problem which arises can be dealt with?

What is the typical cost of repair, and is there a price list anywhere?

Thanks

Got it back today with a new sensor everything seems fine. Didn't take to long they received it on the 17 December after a 3 week delay caused by the weather and back in my hands today!

My oldest batteries are from 2006 and still work well.

That's good to hear.
I believe my M8.2 is on its way back to me as I write this. Hopefully they were able to identify the internal defect that was causing my camera to be unreliable.

Cheers Fraser, I got told via email my M8 would be out of the hospital this week - looking forward to having it back.

No they won't it was only a issue in the first series. When buying a used one try to get one with warranty.

My advice is to buy an M8 only if it has been to Solms for the Red Line Fix. If so, it's a safe buy.

Boo... still 'in repair'.

I'll give it until Wednesday and give them a call.

I'm hoping it's longer than Fraser's because they're plating it in 24K gold.

Just give them an email, very quick to respond, must say my camera is much better at 1250iso than it was before.
Shouldn't be much longer as I went for the expensive option of platinum plating :D

Yippee.

Got the M8 back on Thursday and very nice it has been to have it back.

They kindly gave it a thorough clean and replaced the shutter dial (didn't ask them for this).

Sent my M8 to Solms 2 weeks ago for a Red Line problem.

Have been looking at the dates you guys have been posting on this thread and it looks like a 3 month turnaround?

Is this normal (hope not) ???

Think you're counting wrong - two months for me, a few weeks less for Fraser. Mine would have gotten back three weeks eariler if I hadn't asked them to hold off as I was away from home.
