This is my first thread so I would like to officially say hi to you all. 😀

I do own and shoot with the hexar rf for a few rolls already and I can say that I love it and their lens are worldclass. However my G.A.S doesn't go away easily and there are second hand m8.2 for sales in my local internet forum (which is in Thailand) at the similar price to a new in box limited hexar rf with the len sale on Evil bay right now. So if you were me, which one you will acquire (first) ?

I know that you might get this kind of question all the time but I really appreciate other well-experience opinion from you. Please give me some hint.

sigh ..... I wish I could own both. 🙁

Well, welcome to the forum. I'd go for an M8, do you really feel the need for a new film RF, as you already have a similar used one?
Cheers

Aside from the slight collectability of the limited kit I see no advantage to getting it ... unless you're a collector. 😀

The M8.2 would be my choice.

M8 and keep your Hexar too. 🙂

That's if you're happy to move from a film to a digital workflow. If you don't have the gear already then getting a decent computer, the software and then learning to use it all is quite a mountain to climb and frustrates some who try to make that transition.

I have to admit that in the rf set, I'm interesting in that beautiful 50mm f1.2 more than a body but I don't have enough gut to sell seperatly later since I have a weird believe that the rf and the len should stay together .

As Bobfrance said.

(this is just my plan) Ideally speaking, I would keep a film as well (when I can afford two bodies). Because electronics can be a problem occasionally. Also, in some cases, M8 or M9 will be a risky choice to use - for e.g., in heavy/monsoon rain in Indian subcontinent or windy deserts in Sahara, etc. since Leica DRFs (and lenses) are not weather-sealed. Last but not the least the film look.

tuabigm: get an M8.2 now if you can. But if you think the lens is rarer and you intend to use it then get the lens....I think our expereicned RF members can help you on that. The good thing about M8 and M8.2 (, even used M9) is that the prices are coming down. 🙂

welcome to RFF!

if you have GAS, i can't offer any helpful advice. buy what you will. your post sounds like you have a bad case 🙁

but if you're looking to make images in a full digi workflow and use RF gear to do it, the M8/M8u/M8.2 has become attractive to many for its file quality and declining price. do be aware that some folks report focus difficulties using konica hexanon lenses on the M8.

Sorry folks for mislead you with the word G.A.S 😱

I really like the way I can compose through the viewfinder of the rangefinder camera more than the way I did with my dslr. However the film management is seem to be a problem for me. At the moment, I develop neg at the photo lab and have them scan but the result is below my expectation. So I plan to develop BW film and scan by myself but right now the photo lab service is still needed.

All I want to explain is that I still addict to the convenient of the digital but in love with the feeling of shooting analog, that is the reason I think I lean toward the m8. But seeing the price of m8.2 is similar to the RF set , a great camera with a great lens, made me think twice that should I spend a lot of hard earn money on the camera that I really like or on the camera that I want just because of its convenient.
