M8 photo essay on Magnum

Here's a M8 photo essay on Magnum by Constantine Manos.
I am not sure if all of the images were taken with a M8, but there's a small session about his opinion on the M8.

When you click on the Leica M8 link, there're quite a few of photos with magenta color on it (magenta pants, magenta words... etc). I wonder if they're really magenta in real life =) (don't mean to start another M8 sucks thread!)

A bit premature to be passing judgement on his 'digital work'. Even Magnum photographers only produce a handful of iconic images over the space of a couple of years. The M8 stuff looked excellent, given time I'm sure there will be some outstanding digital images.

I doubt very much that Manos sees his work as digital or analogue. I don't think you will see him catalog his work by the type of camera or lens he used. His digital shots could have used a bit different post-processing to give them a bit more weight. The color saturation is a bit much - making the images look a bit thin and loosing a bit of modeling compared to the analogue stuff, but the vision is the same. Like altering the way you print or scan your slides you can arrive at any place you want in post.

I've been posting images to a photoblog I recently launched . I have never recorded anything about camera, lens, exposure, etc., For a lot of the photos I don't recall which camera or lens I used and I really don't care, what matters? did the framing and concept work?. The work for me is divided up by how I was seeing at the time and where I was. I'm using digital now but that has had little impact in how I see. It has saved me a lot of tedious scanning and running to labs though. I hate process, basically I just want to take pictures... the faster and more real time the whole workflow becomes and the more control I can have with the least effort, the better.
