Yeah, I tried that but the copper tape is too thick and it causes it to front focus. Tried aluminum foil and it's too thick too. It's close so I can adjust to it but I'd rather have it right on if I can. Going to try mylar next.

Ok, some shots with the Canon 100/2. Not great compositions but all were wide open. Color accuracy is quite good. I really like the bokeh,

These are quite good. I didn't realize Canon had a 100mm f/2 range finder lens. Are any adapters required to get this working on your M8 / M8.2? Also, how is focusing?

Congrats on finding a Canon 100/2 LTM ;-)

It is a marvelous lens - I am really wondering, why one doesn't hear much about it.
 
Thanks menos! As JSU pointed out, there apparently tends to be a little back focus on these. I tried copper tape on mine but it was too thick (.003"). Two layers of aluminum foil (.0015 - .002") was about right. I think .0015" (.038 mm) is optimum on mine. It's surprisingly sharp wide open. Focus is long throw and you will definitely want to have a magnifier unless you've got young eyes and very good vision.

It looks, like you like the lens ;-)

Apparently the slow focus of the old Canon 100/2 is nice for really precise adjustments, which I like about it - especially close up.
Also, this lens really has to paired well with the rangefinder, to work reliably close up at wide apertures - if you can work with a magnifier, this can help - I don't like the magnifiers much.

This 75 is becoming the lens that can do no wrong. 🙂

I agree about the coupling of the Canon 100. Mine is front focusing up close so I think I need to work on the shimming some more.
 
Rod, I didn't dive in very far, just had to clean and fix the aperture ring on my sample (you can just unscrew the optical cell and expose the aperture ring assembly), but I have seen, that the assembly of the focussing follower in the Canon lens involves a roller, which runs on a cam inside the lens barrel.

Should it be possible, that there is any play in the assembly, could the lens potentially go off. Check, if there is any issues.

riceman: Stunning! That first photo is captivating.

mingkookoo: No photoshop, all I did was WB the shot. I had a flash mounted on top the camera, and my shutter speed was set at 1 second. I fired the shutter, and then waved the camera around. My flash created the impression on the right, and the second impression was created by my wife's flash going off right after mine. This one was lucky, but I'm fond of it.

yeah, an M9 and a Noctilux... i don't want for much in life, just those two things 🙄 an M8 and a 35mm pre-APSH Summilux (being serviced at the moment) will probably be as close as I'll ever get.

I dont think thats too much to ask for personally. Whats up with the Lux?
 
focus mount problems, one of the screws stripped on the mount i think. focus action on that lens was always a little stiff.

it's actually not mine yet though! it's a friends lens, but i've owned it before and sold it/traded it fo him, besides the focus mount issues it is a VERY sharp copy wide open and with minimal flare issues - once it's fixed properly this time and back, it will be mine! just playing the waiting game now 🙂
