Thought I’d try a year old pancake pinhole lens I have had in my bag. It makes a extremely soft image but the colors are true. The hole is so small it is very difficult to see. These photos were taken on Catalina Island Ca. New years eve day. I will post some more in the future. Thanks for looking Bill.

An M8 as a pinhole camera  ... you realise you've had your name marked off the list and you are now not going to get through the gates of heaven. :p

Great pics with a beautiful quality! :)

Gotta love infinite depth of field. I like the second beach pic the best. And you're right--pinholes make for excellent color reproduction.

Very interesting, my photos show a definite vignette around the edges. I assumed that would be normal without using a glass lens to gather the light. Your photos appear to have less . Did you crop, or do any special PS editing? Bill

Here are my two attempts at pinhole photography with the M8.

there goes my attempt to impress everybody by using a shoebox......
Great pics! Did anyone of you use it for portraits? That would be great to see!

Your right. I do intend to repent. Like most sins I couldn’t resist the temptation.

That is a good idea. I’ll give it a go, I need to find a good willing subject.
As a side note. I discovered that if I sandwich a piece exposed film in the Pinhole lens, I get a very interesting inferred pinhole picture. I’ll post some IR pinholes by Fri. eve. Bill

No offence taken.
I just assume anybody looking at a pinhole photo would assume it’s not about a great picture. What is interesting to me, is to see the exact image your camera sensor sees without any glass. These photos were shot in raw. You could say they are as extreme raw as you could possibly get from any camera. To me it’s pure magic to engineer a tiny chip that can capture the colors of reflective light, like any digital camera does today. Bill

Why is it that the Skink lens itself looks so much better than the photos it makes?

(no offense meant to you guys)

Know what I'd like?

I'd like to use one of those fancy rosewood boxes the latest Noctilux comes in, for building a pinhole camera.

You've just managed to tick off Leicaphiles, film users, and toy camera users in one fell swoop.

Bravo!
:D

Yes I did some editing in Lightroom. It took me a while to clean all the dust spots on the photo! The pinhole really shows how durty the sensor can be!

Well, if you think about Ukranian and Japanese pinholes are just as good, too, perhaps they'll let him in  :D
