Anyone? One of the reasons I bought this camera was to tote with me all of the time. I was wondering how this lens fares on the camera. Hoping to get that old classic Leica look.

How about the last of the non-Asph 35mm Summicrons? It's small, makes great images, is relatively affordable, and is the virtual equivalent of a 50mm lens on 35mm camera. Works for me

Good idea.

What is a 50/2.8 Elmarit-M anyway? Did you mean the collapsible 50mm Elmar?

Or: 40mm Summicron filed down to bring up the 35mm framelines. Great lens. Compact. More equal to the normal (52mm) 50mm Summicrons on the M8. Should be a good match for the undersized M8 frames at most shooting distances.

That'll be my "50" when I get my M8 (waiting for the fixed version). The v2/v3 35mm 'crons should be nice too.

Yep, we suggest accessory filters for every one of your Leica lenses. Oh well.
I'm trying to snag me an R-D1 now :-( When Leica figures out how to make a camera that offers what every other camera does and those special leica qualities I will come back to the fold.
