It sounds more and more, though, as if the handgrip and eyepiece magnifier are going to be must-have accessories for this camera -- so add another $450 to the buy-it-now price for your left kidney on eBay...

Hi Jim,

The grip ($150.00) will be useful to people with large hands but the magnifier certainly isn't necessary.

hmmm... I opted for the camera half case (i.e. Camera protector M8 14869 $109.00) because I am used to having a half case on one of the MP's. Anybody notice how it has a very distinct Luigi look to it with the little raised hand grips?

One thing about noise reduction is that it cn be turned of on most cameras. Leave it of for lower "ISO" and turn it on for higher. If you're not pleased with the results there are after market solutions.

You should see Ted Grant's most recent book Women in Medicine shot with his M7s. There's some really excellent pictures in it considering the lighting conditions in hospitals. Highly recommended.

Hiya, Sean -- I've already read two or three reviewer comments to the effect that the body covering seems a bit slippery, and if I had an M8 I'd sure as heck hate to drop it! The grip seems like comparatively cheap insurance.

Also, I thought I read where some reviewer said the magnifier would be very helpful with longer, faster lenses (the kind of lens I use a lot) because of the lower viewfinder magnification compared to other M models. But hey, reviewers aren't always right... right?

(PS --Who the heck was "Felix Talbot"? Sorry, couldn't resist!)

Neck strap or hand strap should provide enough insurance for me.

From the looks of the covering it seems like it's not difficult for CameraLeather.com or Aki-Asahi to a make some custom coverings for the M8.
