BTW, in re the term "rucksack", anyone happen to know offhand what a "ruck" is?

I was always worried about catching an edge and ending up falling on the camera. No worries for the camera, just my spine and ribs! I also found that I don't really take that many photos up on the hill. Now, if I carry any camera at all, it's a small Olympus Stylus. It easily fits in my pocket and it would probably break befoe my bones would. Some of this obviously depends on your style of skiing. I usually ski with my teenaged kids so they're not interested in taking in the scenery, they just want to go up and down the mountain as many times as they can, which translates into as fast as possible!
