M9 and CV 25/4P - Strange Vignette

I love the small size of the CV 25P, but I have been experiencing a strange color cast vignette on just the left side of every shot taken with this combination. Sometimes it is stronger. I don't have this color cast vignette with any other lens - Leitz, Hexanon, or Zeiss. I also have the Zeiss 25/2.8 and the files are clean and sharp. Has anyone else exprienced this with this combination - M9 and CV 25P?

Wow Keith, you haven't been reading any M9 criticism threads have you? The red vignette is well known, and a problem with most wides on the M9 except a few choice Leica ones.

In fact, your 25/2.8 Zeiss should show similar vignette unless you have it coded as a 28mm? At the 24/2.8 Asph setting which I had to code mine as, I get a similar red-edge to what you get with your CV. Try different coding settings, if you get no joy and want to keep using the lens, then perhaps try cornerfix - it's relatively painless.

No Daniel, I haven't seen your threads. I haven't been here that much lately due to some freelance work I have been doing. I will look for them.

As I mentioned, I only experienced the vignette with my CV 25P.

Not my threads mate, I don't have any complaints about the camera. It's a simple fact of the matter that wides, especially symmetrical wides, cause colour shifts on the M9.

If you want to get nearer to solving the problem you can try different lens codes, also make sure your firmware is up to date, but best of all is to use (free) Cornerfix software.

With Cornerfix you simply create a profile by shooting an evenly lit white card with the offending lens, you feed an image file into Cornerfix and it uses the profile to subtract the magenta (red edge) signature of the lens from the image. It also fixes vignetting.
