question:
has the last M9 firmware solved part of the color shift problems with these 2 lenses?
I mean, can I code them like a 21mm on camera to avoid using cornerfix in postproduction?
I looked for images around the web, but I found nothing after firmware 1.162
I'd like to buy a 21mm lens, but I don't want to spend much more because is a focal lenght I will rarely use...

I get the magenta edge on the left side with both of these lenses. The M9's sensor really shows the optical shortcomings of the CV 21/4. I do not find this lens to be an enjoyable experience on the M9. Great for film, but not so great digitally. No resolving power at the edges. The Zeiss 21/4.5 is outstanding, but then there is that magenta edge....
I have pretty much been sticking to the pre-aspheric 21/2.8 Elmarit.

thanks... maybe I could go for a zeiss 21 2,8... but it's bulkier, heavier and more expensive...

Bummer about the CV 21. Such a killer lens on film. Someone should write profiles for non Leica lenses, then you could "jailbreak" the M9.

I have bought the C Biogon T* 4.5/21 and I have used it on my M9.
Workin in B/W it is superb...
Some examples:
It's small and light. I'm really enjoying this lens!

this is a point... it could be seen as an only BW-lens on M9.
for its price it could still be a solution...

As I understood the rear nodal point of the CV is too close to the sensor.

I used the 21mm CV on the M9 and it worked ok. It just takes a little more PP than usual.

You need to use Cornerfix for both of these lenses with the M9 if you are going to be critical about banishing red edge. My CV21mm produces bad red edge, but some people say they can live with it on their lens, which must mean there are either sample variations in the lens, or people aren't as picky, perhaps both. It's one of those things that if somebody showed you a print with even slight red edge and one without, you would forever be sensitive to it. The 21mm ZM f/2.8 is however fine using the appropriate code for Leica 21mm f/2.8 11134.

I decided to start to look for a used CV21.
I will use it few times and I think it won't be a big problem to pass each shot on cornerfix before importing them in lightroom.
I only hope to find a copy with crisp edges (I read about many non perfect copies).
If I'd realize I like this focal lenght... well there's always a biogon 21 2,8 that waits for me

+1 for Steve's comment. The Zeiss 21/2.8 has a little more distortion than its slower brother, but much less red-edge problem. I don't generally feel the need to correct for fall-off with the 21/2.8. Cornerfix helps a tremendous amount with the slower lenses and the CV 21/4 is just a mind-blowing value when used on the M9. Tiny, light, sharp and, with Cornerfix, fall-off free. If anyone from 1970 could see us, they'd weep with envy.
