M9 and Zeiss Lenses - Lenstype

Hi!

I just got my M9 a few weeks ago and loving it. I went on a vacation to South America and my back absolutely loved not having to haul a dslr system around. And the colors are WOW!

My kit consists of the M9, the Zeiss ZM 21 2.8, ZM 35 2.0, and Zeiss Sonnar T 50 1.5. I have used a lens coding kit to mark them as Leica equivalent lenses so that the proper (or close to it) framelines would come up.

Now that I am about to import the photos into Lightroom, I was wondering if if I should correct the EXIF lenstypes to the Zeiss ones before importing the DNG's? Would this cause the corrections built into LR for Leica lenses to not work? What software do you guys use to correct M9 DNG EXIF info? Any tutorials out there to batch correct a bunch of DNG's (1500 approx)?

I know I really shouldn't care, but I am pretty a*al about organizational stuff.

Congratulations on the M9, excellent camera.

Note: coding the lenses does not affect the framelines. It only affects the EXIF data, and in-camera correction for some lenses in JPG files.

Also, there are no correction profiles in Lightroom for M mount lenses, whether Leica or Zeiss. The Zeiss slr lens profiles are not suitable for the M-Mount lenses.

The M9 does not have any way to determine focus distance and aperture is approximate. Also, the Biogons (in particular) have very low distortion in the first place. The lens coding allows the body to correct for vinetting and magenta/cyan shift. You can also use Cornerfix either instead of or in addition to lens coding.

Thanks for the responses, tele_player and sojournerphoto. Though basically everything is manual now, I find myself enjoying taking photos sooo much more than before. I don't know how to describe it.

So, basically the coding is only for the M9 body correcting for vignetting and magenta/cyan shift? As well as just for EXIF data purposes? Great! I guess that means if I change the lenstype before import into LR, the DNG should not be affected. That's one less thing I have to worry about.

Anybody have any suggestions on how to batch change the lenstype in EXIF? The reason I am asking is that I see myself maybe buying some Leica lenses in the future (after my checkbook have gotten over the shock of the M9 purchase). Some of them may be the same exact lenstypes that I have coded the Zeiss lenses with. For cataloguing purposes, I would like the photos I took with the Zeiss lenses to show the proper Zeiss lens models in the EXIF.
