M9 at Comic-Con 2010

Quite FAB & Fun Indeed !!!
Enjoyed the WHOLE lot...made ME Giggle

in particular 'The Trojans', 'The Boston Terrier'. 'Superman' & 'Mr ?'

Okay, right after I ask (mostly in jest) how many great shots with a 50 are actually taken wide open, you go and post this!

Outstanding work.

Ok, going to fulfill an early request to see the color versions. Here are a few. Interesting for me to see as I didn't know how they'd look considering I'd shot them in B+W.

I've just ordered the Eclypse magnifier, thanks for pointing that out, i think it#ll really help.
I think it's sad to sell the 50!..I just sold a 35 Lux asph, i MUCH prefer the 50 Lux.

I really like the 'something new' photo's..The eye makes a stunning desktop background!

That magnifier is awesome, really comfortable, clear and half the price of the Leica, a no brainer for anyone using 50mm+ lenses on the M9. Focusing accuracy is so much easier with this thing, and did I mention it's comfortable?

Trust me, I do not want to let that thing go. I worked hard to buy it but my best friend wanted an M8, so that's going to pay for it. At the end of the day, it wouldn't matter what lens I use as long as I make the image work. Signature, character and other words to describe lenses can't turn a bad picture into a good one. I might try the Nokton 1.1 next, or maybe the Sonnar 1.5. I'm over spending all my hard earned dollars on lenses that don't contribute to me making better images.....

....did anyone just buy that? I'm trying to talk myself out of lens perfection :bang:

Wow. The mismatched legs, easily my favorite of the original set, and an absolutely fantastic photo, really doesn't work as well in color. I'd say it doesn't work at all, but I don't care to insult one of my favorite new photos of the past month.

The original, though, is simply as good as it gets. It just goes to show you that some subjects benefit from color (the pen fighters especially), and some gain meaning from color's absence.

The entirety of the original set is wonderful, by the way. Great work.

It's about enjoying the lens for me, i have the zeiss planar and the 50 lux doesn't make me a better photographer but i enjoy the lens a lot more, i'm quite in love with it. I was half in love with the 35 lux which was nearly as beautiful as my 50 lux but it's fl was too middling and fustrating to really enjoy it. If i loved the 35 fl i'd have had a look at the new lux, it looks so nice. I keep things simple and only want 2 gorgeous lenses for the m9..the nosey 50 lux and a 24 /25 which i can't decide on. Actually i love the look of the 50 sonnar pics i've seen. All of the above from the point of view of an amateur who needs a crutch where you really don't.

Awesome shots. Thanks so much for sharring. Amusing and inspirational.

By the way, I think they all work better in b+w, except for the banana man.

Yeah I think so, and I purposely shot it in B+W jpeg + raw as I wanted to ensure I wasn't shooting just for color as I wanted to make the content pop. I guess the color is nice as a comparison to see how it looked in person.

goddamn. i clicked with relatively low expectations and am super impressed, not only by the shots but also by the thoughtfulness expressed about the technique.

hard to pick a winner, but the big space helmet atop the escalator (in b/w) is the one i went OOOOOOH at. is that mr freeze?

Awesome shots.
I really like shooting at events like that, because the people are more used to being photographed in the first place. And most of the time they are really nice people. Unfortunatly there are not many events in The Netherlands or Europe that compare too a comic con.

Yes you're right about the people. But c'mon you live in Europe where you have amazing stuff to shoot outside your door. Unfortunately LA culture, well it doesn't exist unless you're talking about gangs of south central or Rodeo drive

Nice shots! Always wanted to go to one, been debating for quite awhile haha.

It truly is geek heaven and highly recommended, but I'd be happy just walking the halls ans surrounding areas looking for pictures. Only wish I wasn't working so I'd have more time for these kinds of pictures.
