Seems significantly lower. I can fill almost 2 - 2GB cards on a fully charged battery on the M8, but always carry a spare.

I don't know whether the batteries are not yet fully conditioned, but I'm finding that my new M9 needs about a battery per 1Gb SD card. What have other people experienced?
I figured the camera would be a bit more power hungry than an M8.

Difficult to compare users as some have auto-review on, others save in uncompress, others chimp a lot ...Seems significantly lower. I can fill almost 2 - 2GB cards on a fully charged battery on the M8, but always carry a spare.

Presumably a bigger sensor must consume more power and presumably the same applies to image processing. If so given that the battery is unchanged it would not be surprising if it is not lasting as long on an M9.
I am still astounded that the M9 has changed so little from the M8 other than the full frame aspect.
Maybe an expensive pro grip is on the horizon after all.

One battery for one gig? That is truly HORRIBLE! As a matter of fact that really STINKS! Shame on Leica! SHAME!!!!!!!
No, that's not my experience. Please see my amended note.

I was wrong about that. The one-charge-per-card was due to the fact that my "Auto Power Off' item was disabled. I often put the camera down or in the case without shutting off the mechanical switch. I set it to 5 minutes and now have a better experience.
The battery drain is somewhat more than the M8 (I have not measured either one carefully) but definitely something I can live with. I always carried a spare, charged battery with my M8 also.

Well a few people have said its the little improvements that make the M9 so much better. Little detroments like this and the outdated LCD do nothing for me. They would really start to bug me with the passage of time. One really should not have to be making concilatory 'I can live with it' type of comments for the money involved. It should be spot on.I was wrong about that. The one-charge-per-card was due to the fact that my "Auto Power Off' item was disabled. Incidentally Tom I am sure you know this but turing down the display brightenss makes a big differemnce to power consumption.
