Hi everyone, quick question. I've been looking into the M9 (black), and some of the pictures I see online have a red dot and others have a black dot. Can anyone shed some light on this? Does it come with both dots, or do you have to specify when you order it?

thanks,

Maybe it indicates the nature of the sensor: colour or black and white. Which is to say, how on Earth does the colour of an external decoration matter?

I understand that in the M9 A la carte program you can get the dot in any color you like for only $395 extra. You provide the color swatch, they match it.

I can add a black dot to your M9. Send it to me, with a $100 bill and I'll replace the red dot with a black one and send the camera back...I promise.

I don't think you'll be able to get it from the factory with a black dot. For some reason Leica Camera does not own the rights to the red dot - they have to license it from another division of the company. They got into some hot water over the black dot on the M8.2, or so I heard...

Wow it seems like that was a pretty dumb question eh?

Personally, I don`t know if that was a dumb question. However if I did,
I ( unlike some of the responders ) would not take the time to post a reply
to something thought trivial. Unfortunately it seems to be a trend of late
on the forum, for some of our "sage" members to ridicule instead of inform.
It must be a great form of self validation. And it`s sad.

Regards,
Al
