Is this firmware "too old" or should I leave things as they are?

I wish mine was still at this. The Dicsreet mode plays up on mine, but not so badly I guess. The battery management is said to have been improved with the latest firmware, but I think it just tells you to change the battery sooner by recording a lower level by a given usage point. Mine was upgraded to the more recent firmware when I just sent the camera for a sensor clean. I can't see that you are missing out on much at all, and presumably if there is ever another upgrade for the M9 firmware you could still put that on. My wife still hasn't upgraded her iPhone to iOS6 so she is actually way behind on a lot of fronts, including free SMS between us. And if she thought iOS6 would be good, but doesn't like iOS7, it's too late now. My phone won't connect with my car since upgrading to iOS7: I've tried everything, including a new phone. I doubt Apple will ever fix that either. I'd keep 1.176 if I still had it.
