M9 goes to the market

Took my M9 and Mamiya 6 to a traditional wet market in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

All shot with CV28/3.5, although some shots are cropped - foot zoom not always possible.

As regards M9 vs Velvia, well I think you've done a nice job with the film scans and certainly the film vs digital 'looks' shine through. Better/worse? Just different.

Thanks for all the comments, will be taking both cameras on my next trip, the M9 will be for lowlight and as a backup.

Great shots. The 28/3.5 is among my favorite lenses. I've taken lots of memorable shots with that... and lots of not-so-memorable shots of my fingers too!

I looked at both sets and liked both. I can't decide which I like better. Both series of shots are IMHO beautiful.

Nick, the images are gorgeous and I don't care which ones were shot with which camera (though, truth be told, I'd be happy with either of 'em). They're all lovely to look at, even the creepy one of all those frog guts next to the frog fellow who's reading his newspaper.

Yes, the 28mm f/3.5 is a nice lens... I went back to it after using the Zeiss 28mm and the Ultron.

That's my favorite! What a bloody mess and the surreal feel of him blithely reading the paper (which will soon be bloodied with frogs!).

I am a long time defender of digital having made the move from film about 5 years ago. Never the less I expected to see the Mamiya images looking better than those of the M9, due to it being film based and medium format. Surprisingly it was not so and I must say that I greatly prefer the rendering of the M9. Lovely colors and tones. I am in the process of buying an M8 which people tell me produces similar images so I must say I am now getting very impatient.

Nice shots and very well documented. I find the 4th shot with the frogs/toads terribly disturbing - typical of man's uncaring attitude and cruelty to other animal life forms.
