M9.2, M9-P, M10, or whatever, I'll believe it when I see it.
If whatever has a better buffer and maybe, but not absolutely essential, better higher ISO IQ, Leica might sell me a camera or two.
I seriously doubt that Leica will ever make a digital camera with an advance lever. It may have been interesting on the R-D1 but the M8 & M9 have established a style at Leica from which I don't see them departing.
I agree.. A better buffer would spice things up a bit. I imagine that a more powerful chip exists at this point.
Not sure where they can go in terms of (better) higher ISO with CCD.

The best camera is one that still works!

Maybe a chat with Brian Sweeney?

We'll just know better in June. That's all about it.

Film, the next evolution.
My chrome M8 looks exactly the same with a silver dot.
Besides, if it was a prototype, why give it to Seal ?

Because he's going to carry it and have his picture taken while carrying it and we'll all be discussing it here and everywhere once the pictures get spotted on the net by the Leica fanboys!
Oh, life can be really simple, I should be in marketing

The camera has been photoshopped in - it's a fake IMO. Still, great publicity ;-)

a bigger buffer is not the bottleneck, the write-speed to the SD card is.
SO: either switch it to a CF card, or (if not enough room for CF) embed a large flash-ram into the body that is off-loaded to the SD card as time permits. Or use a Class 90 SD card to keep up with the KAF-18500 sustained data rate.

why not M9 al-la-cart?

Seems to be quite real: http://leicarumors.com/2011/05/16/close-ups-of-seals-leica-m9-p-camera.aspx/
Just looks like a M9 with new vulcanite and the dot removed... maybe chrome? Seems like Seal could have enough pull to get this made for him... who knows.
What lens?

M9-P sounds quite realistic to me now, and it'll be more beautiful, than the steel-grey of the M9, if it's really chrome.

There is another possibility. Seal owns an M9 Titan prototype. The Audi
team made several versions before deciding on the final one, and Seal has stated that he owns one that has regular framelines, so the camera has the standard illuminator window. Notice that he has a new 35'lux with round hood attached to this one. Not sure if this is his prototype camera or a new model. If it is new, maybe it will be a special edition with a 35'lux as a kit.

Seal says, about "Stephan D" from Leica:
What could it be
For me "product X" screams "Prototype" and not custom made M9 ^^

I swapped him the X100 for product ‘X’ that he’d brought for me.

Nice find OlliL.... what I find funny about that is that Stephan D wanted to get his hands on the X100. Perhaps Leica has taken notice.

If the "product X" has a meaning, it may be called M10...
Just a interpretation.

Couldn't he just have had Leica stamp him out a bare top plate, chrome plate it, engrave it as they used to and instead of putting the adjustment under the red dot, just putting the cover screw there instead?
This is not a big process either. It would take someone with a decent amount of skill to fill the existing voids in a standard M9 top plate with brass then machine it down, drill it, engrave it and chrome plate it. It's definitely not impossible though. Would be just a few hundred dollars to do the job on an existing M9 plate. Considering Seal's relationship with Leica, he could have just ordered an a la-carte M9.
