Seriously, LOVE the camera -- The wife and I went to Mexico for a little R&R last week. I lug my Leica everywhere as she is sweet enough to humor my photographic proclivities. While I took every lens in my arsenal, I ended up using the Zeiss 50 Planar just about all of the time. The Voigtlander 21mm Color Skopar, 35 1.2 Nokton and a 50 year old Jupiter-3 saw some action as well.
Can’t say enough good things about the 50 Planar, though. Amazing lens!

THe photo of her and me is from the Nex-5...
Also have to commend Brian Sweeney - He adjusted my Jup-3 and it is a killer portrait lens at f1.5

I'm jealous you have someone who enjoys having their picture taken (or at least seems to put up with it better than my wife).
Out of curiosity, how did you handle white balance? Her tattoo really jumps out in some shots - particularly the first - but looked totally different in some of the others. I don't know why, but that inconsistency jumped out at me looking at the shots on a whole. That said, individually, the shots still work nicely.

You know I edit each shot individually for the photo so the white balance may look a bit different in different pics. However, you could easily standardize the colors and white balance if you want.

Sorry, that was the film side of me talking. I'm still trying to work out a color workflow I'm happy with.
My only digital experience is with D70s - I don't know anything about the M9 as I can't afford one. I wasn't sure if the white balance differences were from editing, in-camera auto white balance, if you were indexing off of something, etc.

Gorgeous camera and wife, you're all set mate!
Nice use of light and possibly reflected lighting in the images, makes your wife pop from the lovely background, not that she has any trouble standing out ;-)

Doesn't look like it is ambient lighting, very very nice touch though.

I am most comfortable with naturally lit subjects. That said, sometimes a bit of a fill light is nice. In order to mix my goals of simple and portable, I limit myself to one speedlite (I use a 580exII shot on manual) and sometimes diffuse through a semi-opaque umbrella. I purchased some inexpensive remote triggers so I can put the speedlite on my tripod and shoot off camera. -rob

Deadly shots and a stunning wife. Love the tattoos, love the light, poses and fantastic makeup, clothes and hair. It all just works. Some of the best M9 stuff I have seen. Thanks for posting.

Very well done! I like the off-camera lighting. And that 50mm Planar rocks. The exif on some photos says 75mm, but based on the lenses you mentioned I assume that's just an error in the exif.

So there isn't a problem firing the 580 with the leica? All of your shots are wonderful, great job.

The canon speedlites work fine. You have to shoot them on manual mode. So, some trial and error but once dialed in it's all good. Rob
