A newbie with rangefinder
Hello,
Just a newbie question, was wondering whether whether M9 can trigger a canon 580EXII flash?
Has anybody tried it before?
Got a phottix trigger to trigger it wirelessly too but didn't know whether is it safe to do so..
Any kind person can answer to my newbie question?
Thank you very much

Yes it will work but not in ettl mode. Just make sure your custom function 5-3 is on.

Thank you for your reply,
I do not really get you, what you meant is to set the setting on my flash manually but what is 5-3?

You can set manual flash power on the flash by pressing the Mode button until you get into manual mode, then selecting the power.
Or you can use automatic flash, which is what custom funciton 5-3 does. You select the ISO of the camera and the aperture at which you want to shoot, and the flash meters its own output using its internal sensor so that you get a well-exposed picture - like you would have done with a 70's or 80's automatic flash.
