Well, I have to say that initially, I 'settled' for the Nokton over the Summilux ASPH due to financial reasons. I haven't owned this lens since It was first released some time ago, using it on my M6.

Since using it over the last few weeks I have come to adore it's qualities once again on digital full frame and would like to share some images I took today to help me get over a very bad ending to my day - car accident.

These were some extras on a set I was shooting on today. Very quick 5 sec setups, nothing special but I enjoyed shooting these kids. Nikon D3s in one hand, and of course the M9 in the other. Images taken from jpegs from camera set to vintage B+w and med-high contrast. Slight contrast added to images in PP, nothing else.

Nice. I prefer 2nd and 4th images. Others dont really do anything for me. If i were to own an m9, i'd probably also own the nokton 1.2.

I hope you are Ok (I suppose you are, since you were able to post these) and didnt get hurt. Photos are beautiful. I too love my CV 35/1.2. (It's funny to me that Steve Huff in his old review of the Summicron ASPH says that he didnt like CV35/1.2 and it didnt inspire him at all - he wouldnt even review it! Based on this statement and some others - his reviews are not worth much at all to me).

Yes I'm well, but it was close.

Steve, like most reviews shows bias. He loves the 35/1.4 ASPH so he's not going to give the Nokton a fair go, understandable seeing how he's human. I also loved the 35/1.4 ASPH, more so the 'Aspherical' version I had prior, but the Nokton is sweet in it's own right. Also it's a very different lens, both in signature and size. If I had the money I would take the Leica, but not for the look, but the size and weight. Also it's a tad faster to focus too. With the Nokton I find I need to add contrast to the images in PP compared to the Lux ASPH, but that's fine, better to be under than over when it comes to contrast. Also there is no focus shift so it's extremely accurate and Sean Reid confirms this in his latest reviews. In fact he's a big fan of this lens also.

Right now, I'm very happy just using this lens and won't let it's size stop me from achieving nice images. At the end of the day it's the photographer that produces great images, not the lens. When I finally deserve the Lux ASPH, both creatively and financially, I may jump, but for now I am more than satisfied in using this lens as my all rounder, night and day.

I agree 100%, but posted the others as a means of lens character analysis. You have an eye like mine.

Excellent. I really like these.

And who doesn't think if they spend a Sunday with those women they wouldn't walk away a better person from the experience?

#2 is nice. Others are just meh.

Please keep in mind, it wasn't a photo session I was shooting. I had my M9 around my neck and was just picming off shots here and there. This isn't a showing of my portfolio or an exhibition, but, will try and improve on the 'meh' next time. Gotta keep the RFF's happy.

I personally think they display what you intend them to very well. Meh? Maybe... but compelling shots of your subjects none the less.

Thanks Rover, I have to aree they're 'Meh' but I thought they're good enough to display my intentions, which was about the lens, not the images. I still prefer it as a small series as opposed to only posting a couple of frames.
