I ended up taking the M9 with 21, 50, and 90 mm lenes to Thailand. Am still getting the hang of it (still recovering from jet lag as well) but so far have only used the 50.

Don't know if I should be surprised or not. Last summer, I went to Peru and the only digital was my X100 and I seldom had trouble with a fixed focal length. Had the M6 wtth a couple different focal lengths for backup.

So now am thinking of just the M9 and 35 and 90 for my RTW trip in August.

Glad you took the M9 on your trip. Not surprised that you only used one lens. Some three weeks ago I was on a three-day Thai tour bus trip to the Shan State of Burma and used essentially only the Summicron-35v4, although I had 21, 28 and 50 lenses with me. In post #10 of the thread on that series, called Chiang Tung Days, I explain why I used the 35 rather than the 28 for reasons that strike me as counter-intuitive, but that made sense in that particular situation. After that trip, I then shot another series of 16 landscape shots with the Summicron-35v4 lens, as I got to like it for the M9.

The 35 and 90 combination that you refer is fairly classic, but for me lacks the wider angle possibility. My ideal kit has been 21, 28 and 50, as I hardly use 90; but now, after my experience with the Summicron-35v, I'll that lens along as well,particularly how small and light it is.

I was act6ally thinking 35,50, 90 but that combo is such a stereotype. Of coourse, there may be a great reason it is considered the classic three lens Leica photojournalism setup.

And, the 21 is very small. As I posted earlier there are just too many great choices.
