Hi Folks

I used to own this lens and use it with an M6, it was perfect for those occasional times when needed and always impressed me with the results. I was thinking of picking up another one but have heard how it is "too close for the M9 sensor" and that it's "not worth having" due to the coding / vignetting.

What are your views please? does anybody have photos taken with an M9 to show one way or another whether I should dismiss it or buy the lens anyway and work round the vignetting in Photoshop or Lightroom.

Thanks in advance

Wow not one reply, i take it that people on here don't use this combination. I know it really is a cheap option putting a VC15 on an M9 but I feel I wouldn't use the focal length enough to justify better / more expensive glass (even though I loved the resuts from my M6 and Pan-F, even Velvia 50 on occasion).

Please someone reply to show your not ignoring me as a new member  :)

Use it and either deal with the edge color vignetting, correct in Cornerfix or just convert to grayscale in your raw converter of choice.
The CV 15mm doesn't have as bad a colored vignette as the Super Angulon and there are a few of us who use that lens all the time.

I've just started using it. Yes to the vignetting, but easily corrected with Cornerfix. I'm still getting the hang of this lens, as it does remain somewhat noisy in the corners. I was out with it Monday and settled on this as a pretty good result. ISO 1600 with a LOT of shadow adjustment (+90) as I was wanting to save the image on the TV so kept exposure low.

The noise is there in the corners, but seems accentuated when shooting at high ISO. Shots in full sun are not nearly like this, as the Fred Miranda link above shows. Note I added some noise to the center to balance the image, and as a B&W wouldn't seem off at all.

Many thanks for the replies and samples, looks like this one is firmly on the list, along with looking at Cornerfix,

Thanks again

I use it on the M8 so results will be different. It's such a compact lens and the price is so good, especially the LTM model which comes with a VF in the box.

I tried mine on my M9, and it´s just terrible with the amount of color shift especially on the left hand side of the frames. Have not tried cornerfix yet, but my advice: stick to the lenses known for unproblematic handling.

It may be that Cornerfix is partially responsible for the corner issues that people are experiencing, at least that's what I've read. The color shift is quite dramatic but is completely fixed with an accurate profile of your lens in Cornerfix. You do need to take some care in creating the profile.
