I have two powermac's in storage. They don't eat oats but might bring big bucks in the future just like Nikon's Coolscan scanners ;-)
I guess that means I'm keeping my PowerMac G5 indefinitely. really surprised that apple would drop Rosetta support instead of freezing development but let it still linger. but I'm not too happy at apple these past few years. doubtful I'll upgrade to another mac.

I'll probably keep the i-mac 24 I have since 3 years now running SL for scanning and printing, without ant upgrade. Just leave everything as it is. Not sure what I'll do with my MBP...

An other option is to clone the current system to an external hard drive before upgrading to Lion.
If you need to run legacy software, connect the drive and hold the Option key during start-up. Select the external drive and you are back in the old system.

I just received an email ad from Micro-Center that offered a Seagate 1 TB external drive with enclosure for $59.00. It seems booting into Leopard or Snow Leopard for scanning (or any Rosetta Ap) is a practical solution.
