I have too much time on my hands and some adapters so I decided to try some macro with my Millennium Nikkor 50mm. I have two adapters attached to it--Amedeo's Nikon to LTM and LTM to Nikon F Mount. On a D300 you only get macro, but it's pretty nice and I think I'll search for a tele ( 90-135 cheap ) and try some more.
First one is at f/1.4 and the other two are f/16. I'm sure you'd know anyway as the DOF is razor thin at 1.4! S body cap is one of Amedeo's prototypes

you could always try the lens reversed for another macro affect
NIKON KIU
Did you say Nippon Kogaku
You owe me for this one!
I wanted a Nikon engraved rear cap(he was making Zeiss) and he told me he didn't have the logo, so I took some pictures and emailed him, viola, NK branded aftermarket rear cap! It even fits the 21mm(which I don't have).
Now he is making body caps with my pictures!!

OK Kiu, where does one get ones? Do they have shorter ones too?
The 35/1.8 seems great, can't see anything wrong. Putting a role through her tomorrow. Came cap-less so I'm a searching for that and a hood.

Bill, IMO the best value rear cap for a 35/1.8 is the rear cap that comes with the CV S-mount lenses. Camera Quest should have them. They cost 900 yen over here.

Nikkor. What else?
Hi Bill,
I bought a rear lens cap for my 35mm Nikkor from heavystar on Ebay. He has one currently for sale here:

I also tried the rear lens cap that came with the 21mm Voigtlander on the 35mm Nikkor f/1.8 and it works fine. I'll see if I can resize some pictures and add them to this post. The one with the white dot is the generic lens cap I got from heavystar.
Both the generic lens cap and the Voigtlander lens cap are plastic, but are of good quality, lock safely into place and give adequate protection to the lens.

As for the lens hood, the original ones are very expensive and hard to come by.
I see that Tom Abrahamsson is planning a second production run of the 35mm f/1.8 hoods. Still pricey, but possibly the best and most practical solution. I think I'll order one soon.

click on Nikon RF 35 lens hoods
I am currently trying out some Olympus wide angle lens hoods in 49mm filter thread via a 48-49mm filter conversion ring. It works fine, but I still have to test them for vignetting. I don't have these lens hoods with me at the moment, but will try and post some pics tomorrow.
Finally, I believe that you can use a 43mm lens cap and attach it to the inner filter ring. The correct front lens cap would be 48mm as shown in RFF thread 55173.
