Not finished on the Magmum "Advice" part of the blog, but I like Chris Anderson's two cents best so far.
Shoes? As Al says, depends on the occasion: for anything formal (note: I next to never wear a tie...a proper shirt, Dockers cords and a smart jacket fit the bill most anywhere "proper"), I have a pair or dressy but low-key Eccos that are as deadly-comfy as they are dressy. Otherwise, there's that five-year-old pair of Gore-Tex-lined Blunnies that I love to death, except that they're literally close to dead, and Blundstone doesn't make them anymore, and nothing else I've found suits...all aren't low-key enough. So I just ordered some boots and suave slip-ons from Land's End (where much of my wardrobe's been coming from the last few years anyway). Remember, looking the part is somewhat important, but not killing your feet by day's end is at least a bit more important.
My own wardrobe advice for photographers of any stripe? Please, stop dressing like a downtown Ninja, okay? Even B-movie baddies show better taste these days.
Edit: Of course, my personal hero, Elliott Erwitt, has advice just about as sanguine.
