Mail Order BW/Color Labs.. Which ones

I am looking for a great lab I can send my film to.
I live in the USA, so USA labs only.
Any recommendations for professional labs.
C41 and standard BW.

mpix.com. They will send you pre-paid mailers on request and do very good work - especially pleased with their processing C-41 processed black and white film.

I live in Rochester so just drive over to drop off my film to them. A little pricey but the quality is steller. I get all my 4x5 and E6 slides done from them. I'ts easier and cheaper to drop off the c41 at the local walgreens. Praus will do almost any film (including infared etc) clip tests etc. If you just want to do C41 it would be cheaper to find a target/walgreens that have a high volume. I simply took a few exposed rolls drove around town to the various walgreens/rite aid/ wallyworld etc and tried them all out before settling on one.

Well, the local lab doesn't have the film safety on their minds..So, for film I don't want f'd up, I'd rather pay a bit more and be at peace. Plus, I want to shoot some standard BW too..no lab around here can do that..it is all sent out anyway.

Cox B and W lab in Rancho Cordova, CA has been very good to me.

Photolab in Berkeley has done well for me with color film.

Keeble and Shuchat do a nice job with color, but I don't know if they do mail order.

Give them a call and ask how best to get things done. Edgar gives me a discount if a bring in a lot of stuff and has told me that they do a lot of work by mail. I'll be arranging something with him as well once i graduate this summer and finally have to leave rochester.

Also if your keen on B/W, i've found kodaks BW400CN absolutely fantastic for the type of work i do (which is straight scanning and no wet darkroom printing). I've been a TriX guy all my life but don't bother with it any more b/c the C41 b/w films are very very good. The whole advantage of controlling contrast acuity etc., with development, that TriX and other traditional films offer is lost if you send them out to be processed.

Let me edit my response above, having just had some more B and W stuff processed.

Cox B and W lab has been extremely good. Superb results, quick and very very good with communication. I would recommend them very highly.

Berkeley Photolab has done well for me with B and W and color film.

I have used http://www.mylab.commail order processing for years with great results when shooting B&W. They do a great job and handled infra-red well. They are very reasonable when processing with negatives cut and sleeved along with a contact sheet. They can also do 4x6 proofs. Lately for color, I have been using Dwaynes in Kansas for slide and negative films and I have been satisfied.

Photo Works SF?

Photo Works SF?

Does anyone have experience with Photo Works SF for traditional B&W developing? They offer mailers and prices seem reasonable ($5 to develop, $7 for prints). I have printed digital files from them and received prompt and good quality results.

Be careful with Clark Color Labs. I used to send a lot of stuff to them years ago, until one day they claimed I had forgotten to include payment after they had already cashed my check. I never went back after that.
