Forums have been reorganized

and now all of them are I believe easier to find on ONE page
-- once you get used to the new way of looking at things.

Great idea, but I struggle with in-the-line layout of subforums. Several columns for subforums would help, maybe, to make easier to view and memorize location.

Appreciate your efforts but liked it the way it was and did not have a problem with it. Now it is very difficult to find things. Maybe it is just me.

This kind of organization does not stimulate curiosity. It is like a telephone book.

When searching, one does not see if on the fora recently additions are made.

Looks good to me! Easier to scan for first time visitor... a little learning curve for the older users, but not bad.

I rarely ever use that page, Stephan, because it looks too crowded. I prefer the layout of the Home page. The Forums page just seems redundant, except that some Forums don't show on the Home page, which I've never understood.

PF

Okay, just came back from the Home page, and see that most of the Forums I go to have been removed. That was unnecessary.

It's no big deal.
Different from what it was, but in a couple of days most will be used to the new format and life will go on.

No, it is not only you.
I also find the former design much better. The subforums could be found immediately with one click. Now much more steps are necessary.
Never change a running system........

Cheers, Jan

Much, much prefer the old layout. The new layout does not look like what a modern internet forum could look like.
There are other photography forums out there that could provide some clues as to what a new layout could look like, the Large Format Photography Forum is one that is well organized and easy to navigate. http://www.largeformatphotography.info/forum/

Implies more mouseclicks, and more pages to browse, to reach the subforums.

Thus : not good.

The "old layout" was excellent...

I love this forum, but sometimes I think hiring a graphic designer wouldn't go to waste. Some good typography work here could do wonders

How's that?

All the forums are now visible at a glance. Much easier for new users, who are more likely to use the FORUMS button to discover what RFF has to offer. I barely go to the FORUM tab, but the new organization is helpful. Maybe you are speaking of the list on the side of the main page instead of the forums page?

I think the sidebar is where most regular users go to, and, according to Stephen, that redesign still has to be implemented. As it stands right now, it hides too much info but I'm assuming that's an interim step and that we'll be notified when the side bar changes have been completed. At least, I hope so!

I hope it stays the old way for it is so easy and fast for me to use.
I do not mind change for the better but in this case I just do not see why it is being changed since it is so easy and fast to navigate. just my 2 cents.

In the old format you could easily see if there was a new post on any of the forums that you were following. Now you have to open each forum individually to find out if there is anything new.

The benefit of the old format was that you could see at a glance that a forum you checked only rarely had a new, interesting post which you would then be inclined to open and perhaps respond to. That kind of serendipity is no longer possible with the new format. The result will inevitable be that only the most popular forums survive.

PLEASE change back.

The new format is OK with me. Maybe a bit confusing at first, but in a few weeks, we’ll all be used to it and the old format will be nothing more than a distant memory.

The Sony sub forum called aps-c has both ff and 1 inch sensors fixed lenses cameras like rx1 (ff), rx10 and rx100. Why not call it fixed lens sub forum like u did for the "Fuji x fixed lens" sub forum?

Gary

Ps.. Forgot to mention what about a generic digital ps section for those that want to talk about cameras that don't quite fit into the advance camera section?
