Shot in the dark...
I'm contemplating a Mamiya 7 as my next long term gear lust. I would like a chance to get my hands on one for a week or so before I start selling things and moving off in that direction.
If there is anyone willing to loan/rent (inexpensively) theirs out for a short period of time, I'd like to hear from you.
We can work out some sort of security deposit. Perhaps I can send you one of my kids, or if you prefer, something I'd like to have back.

Great choice, I love mine (though finding a walkabout bag for it has been a bit of a challenge).

FWIW-- an M7 + 80mm lens + panorama kit was posted today for $825 on the Photo.net classifieds. No relation to the seller, but that is some deal...

Good luck with your search,

JT

A Mamiya 7 sure sounds nice to play with for a few days.

Maybe this might come in handy, maybe not. But there's a pretty big local camera shop that has a rental department. They have a Mamiya 7 and lenses for rent. They send gear out too by mail for out of town customers. I've used them before they they seem pretty friendly and helpful.

Just go for it ;)

Steve,

I'd love to send you mine but I've only had it for about 3 weeks now and there is no way I'm giving it up any time soon. I got it as a film based scouting camera to use along with my D90 when I don't feel like lugging the 4x5 around. I haven't used the D90 or 4x5 at all since I started shooting with the Mamiya 7. It has sparked my creativity and it is a lot of fun to shoot with, more satisfying than digital and much less expensive to feed than the 4x5. Just get one at a decent price and if you don't like it you can always sell it and break even.

Steve,
If you are interested in potentially buying the camera I'd be willing to loan mine out. Of course we'd have to work out details but if you'd pay for shipping/insurance etc. we could talk. Email me directly at greg.turco@gmail.com.

I will take me weeks to months to raise the money for such a purchase...so I can't say that I would be in a position to do that.

Thanks

Actually, I´m the one who bought the M7 from photo.net
will get it next week.
I am very much looking forward to shooting the first rolls.
I´m especially curious to see a potential difference btw the M7 and my RZ67...

I tried out the RZ67 last summer and really liked it but it was so heavy I ended up selling it since my 4x5 wasn't that much heavier. I now have the Mamiya 7 and it is a much lighter, more compact camera than the RZ but you can't change film backs and the RF framing isn't nearly as precise as the SLR. I still think I prefer the Mamiya 7 but I've only been shooting with it for a month or so.
