Mamiya 7II shutter failure

Hi all,

I have a problem with my Mamiya 7II and the lens 65mm, yesterday i was shooting a friend in a cafe, the lens with camera didn't respond to the shutter, only 2-3 frames worked, but the rest nothing just blank, i couldn't wind the film until i turn off the camera and then wind the lever and press the shutter button then turn on the camera which caused that blank frames, weird how 3 frames worked, today evening i tried again and same problem, only once worked, so i am not sure where is the problem, i think it is that contacts between the lens and the camera, i called Mac [Mamiya America Corp.] and all what they can tell me is to clean that contacts but i didn't listen to the tech about how, he said wiping with something. I told him if that cleaning didn't work, what to do then? he said, send it for service, and this idea is not possible now as in my area i don't think i can find a service for Mamiya [but i will try], sending it overseas will take long time and i am traveling hopefully next month early, so dunno what to do.

Try rubbing over the contact points on both the lens and the body with an eraser (the kind used to rub out pencil marks).

I've never needed to do this trick on a Mamiya 7II, but it worked like a charm on a Nikon D40X that refused to recognise the attached lens.

I did that but for the lens only, i will try it again for both, hope this will work, but if not, i will give up to do anything.

Could be the shutter release magnet. The camera fires once, but it still thinks it is cocked. Which means you can't wind on. Costs about $60 (IIRC) to get it replaced.

Are you sure about that?
Now where i can replace or repair it in my country? no way i may find but i will try, i can't send it overseas now because of that i will travel soon and i can't wait the camera or lens to be back from service.

My Mamiya 7II is not working, and after several months i realize that i have to send it for service, now where i can send it for repair/service?

What is the condition of the battery? Try a fresh one, because even if it does not help, it is still a very cheap trick.

I tested 4 fresh batteries, and i gave this camera to my friend, he told me he bought 3 batteries and tested them, all didn't work, and he bought one new but then he gave the camera back to me with that new unopened battery, i know even that new unopened battery will not work, so how many batteries i have to try before i confirm it doesn't work?

Hi,

I would like to, but i think shipping and repair in UK is higher than USA, always Europe market and services more expensive than USA, and i will not know about the price until i send it, then if it is so over priced than USA then it will be a lot to tell them send it back for me and i re-send it to USA, if the difference will be very minimal or negligible then i will send it to UK with all pleasure.

Sometimes there can be a a thin layer (several atomic layers thick) of oxidation that is not apparent to the eye. I occasionally use a minute amount of Caig DeoxIt on my battery contacts in my cameras and it cures this issue.
