Mamiya and TLR
Mamiya and TLR
A really nice review and report on Mamiya 220 and TLR cameras in general.
The photos nicely illustrating the words.
I used Mamiya TLR from the c3 to c33 to c330, professionally in my studio.
Fashion, Advertising, Publicity and Documentary.
When out of studio, the weight was awesome!
A friend who also shot Mamiya TLR, who is smaller than me(registered dwarf said my lady)
claimed after hours carrying his rig, on putting down,
went into "free-fall".
The straight path film path(Mamiya TLR and Pentax SLR) resulted in very sharp photographs.
Hasselblad sometimes slipped here with it's film path, as does Rollei.
When I gave up studio, to cover a nation in change, I stopped using the Mamiyas..
The RF and SLR in 35mm were easier and safer.
I kept the Rollei..lighter.
The quality of Medium format trumps 35mm.
The 220 which I never used, a very good starting point.
My only complaint with (my usage of TLR) is the "look" of images.
Everything looks like it was shot in the 40' and 50's..
But creamy rich detailed prints have no age!
