Hello
I bought today a Mamiya Sekor 105 mm lens for the C330 TLR Mamiya. It came with these accessories
  • A 105 mm mask
  • A square lens.
I understand the mask is supposed to be placed close to the viewfinder (my C330 has a groundglass viewfinder). Question #1 How/where do I place the mask ? I have tried under and above the groundglass and I am not able to fix it.
Question #2 – And what is the use of the square lens? Where should I place it?? I must say that I am not sure if the square is to be used with the 105 mm Sekor lens.

I read the manual and watched several tutorials concerning this model but I am still in doubt about how should I use these two parts. Both have side holes but I could not find how can I use them.
Any help is welcome.
Thank you in advance

I've never used the Mamiya TLR system, however I think that if you use the focusing hood as a sportsfinder, the mask and lens mount over two lugs in the front of the hood. They probably correct the view through the sportsfinder to match the 105mm lens.

This is correct for the empty mask- I have one for my Mamiya TLR system (do not have the 105mm lens [yet]). Not sure about the square lens- may be an optical way to do the same.

What has been said is true, they are indeed for the sports finder. The frames would work for telephoto lens (smaller angle of view) and the lenses would be for a wide angle lens (to widen the view). Did you say the lens is for a 105 mm? It should be marked on the top edge. I have one for a 65 mm lens and it does a nice job of widening the view (and is marked 65 mm).

Makes sense. Thought about the quandary of wide angle lenses and sports finders...

Dumb me !!!
Simple solutions - while I was trying to find some complex way to place those acessories...
As I never use the sportsfinder, I did not even considered that possibility - I removed the cover of the viewfinder and looked for a way to place those pieces over or under the viewfinder.
Later today I will try them.
Thank you for your help

There would be no need for these on the viewfinder itself as the lenses come as matched pairs.

You are absolutely right - as were the opinions posted above. My stupid mistake was trying to place them in the wrong spot.
I just confirmed that the open frame fits the sportfinder and the square lens does the same, but for the 65 mm lens (as sugested before).

The 105 mm lens I bought came inside an original Mamiya lens case for a 65 mm lens, together with those two parts. A previous owner must have mixed everything and the woman who sold the combo did not knew anything about photo gear.
They are of little use to me, as I never use the sportsfinder. Maybe I will sell them in the future.
Thank you again for your interest and for your help
