I just bought a Mamiya C330 TLR off fleabay and while it's ugly looking, most of the functions seem to work.

I can trip the shutter with the side shutter release, but the bottom one (the one that accepts a threaded cable release) doesn't seem to move the lever down enough to actually set off the shutter. It moves it enough to make the camera think the shot has been taken (i.e. when set to single exposure, it won't let me trip the shutter without advancing again). Neither pressing it or using a release cable is enough.

Any ideas if this mechanism can be adjusted without major surgery?

I had an issue like this with my 80mm lens. I just added a few layers of electrical tape to the bottom of the lens to help lift it just enough so the shutter release could be triggered.

The problem is with my 80mm lens as well. Where did you apply the tape?
Did it also affect other lenses?

Thanks, I'll give it a shot myself. Maybe shim it with a piece of cardboard or a couple of layers of business cards.

I tried to shim it with some business cards and pushed it to its limit, but still wasn't enough to get it to trigger via the threaded release. I may have to open it up. :(
