Hi!

I've got a Mamiya Universal Press (my first rf!) and I'm a bit puzzled. My shutter no longer re-cocks after every photo. It snaps fine, but after that the lever itself stays in place. I have to reach to the lower-right and re-release that lever manually. If I don't do that, then when I cock it for the next picture with the top lever, it immediately snaps again.

Also, the little metal thing that holds the cable release on became twisted and now the release falls out. Any tips for tightening it? Pliers seem to just bend it in the wrong way.

Thanks!

Is this on the 100mm f3.5 lens? It sounds as if the lever is binding up. Are you manually releasing it by pushing down the lever that the shutter release cable would normally press? If so, is the lever that goes down not coming back up as it should?

There are several versions of that lens. Mine is the black model. The release lever is pushed down by a small pin that is moved by the shutter cable. If the shutter cable is bad the pin may not return. If the lever is not returning when you move it manually you probably have a broken return spring. Any decent lens repairman should be able to fix it.
