$170 is much to high, despite some foolish Ebay sellers wanting over $500 for them. They might be from another planet.
I've sold Yashica Lynx 14's in the $50 range before, which have an F1.4 lens.

I never pay more than $10 for them. Got a couple dozen. I doubt I've paid more than $20 for my Super Deluxe's. Trouble is most of them have stuck lenses, and my success rate at unsticking them is low compared to most fixed-lens rangefinders.
I'm glad prices are going nuts, though. I've got to unload a bunch of cameras soon.

I don't have nearly that many (one working and one parts). If you can get them for $10-20, that's a great price!

Compared to the GIII, the SD is very easy to work on. The whole front thing comes out with 4 screws hidden under the leatherette and the front rings come off with little hassle once you unscrew the front lens assembly.
The shutter itself is in kind of a "biscuit" type thing. You can easily get to all of the gears and wheels and whatzits in there. I would think that if you carefully dripped a little Ronsonol in there and gently coaxed the mechanism along, it should unstick.
One hint. Mark those front rings so you can get them back in the same exact position. Otherwise you may end up doing a recalibration of the exposure.

I quit buying them some time ago. For awhile, I was buying them just for spite. I kept saying how cheap they were on RFF, people kept saying "Oh, yeah, how come I never see any at that price," and then I'd see one, point it out, no one would buy it, so I would. Finally got tired of it. People are lazy and not patient.

I've never taken the lens off, just the front element exposing the shutter from the front.

Yeah, my batting average on that is a bit low. I know how to do it.

Good point that. I'm kind of done doing the lens unsticking them. Years on, I'm bored of it. Got to sell the whole mess anyway.
yes- some bargains to be had out there.
I paid more for my Lynx 14e than I paid for a Leica III with Summar 5cm F2 on it...

Checking on Egag, there's one bidding at $27, and another, the 2.0, bidding at US$1.45 in the UK.
HEY WAIT! That first one is my photo! That's my bedspread, and even the corner of my TLR in there! That's the photo I used when I wrote the article for Camerapedia!
I guess I'm supposed to be flattered?

I really don't care about that. I'm more surprised than anything, kind of amused actually. Yeah, kinda flattered, but it's really a crummy photo. LOL, at least he left my initials in the corner.
