Such lovely images! I may've missed it noted in there, but what film did you use?

Jon, I used Kodak ProFoto XL 100. Its a budget version of Kodak Extar for the S.E. Asian market, and is actually quite hard to find in Japan.

Really great pictures, Jon. Are these huts tolerated by the authorities?

Thanks Erik! Kawasaki City is well known for offering good welfare programs for the homeless, so the homeless have been there a long time. Very much tolerated by the authorities I'd say. I've even heard stories of homeless people moving from outside the city to Kawasaki to take advantage of the benefits offered there. There are also vegetable patches here and there around the huts where the homeless are growing food. Even a small flower garden. This hut below with the window awnings faces the flower bed pictured below it. On the other side of the river (Tokyo side) you can see more huts scattered near the shoreline.

These homeless people seem to be very disciplined people, quite the opposite to the homeless in The Netherlands.

I believe they are out of stock now. I was going to buy one and one day they were available, the next they weren't. Unless I'm totally missing something.

The Apo Lanthar is 1/2 the weight of the Nikkor 85f2 and ii has slightly higher contrast - and probably higher resolution too - though I haven't bothered to check that. All I can say is if I am taking a kit out or on trip - the Apo Lanthar is more likely to come along than the Nikkor 85f2. A SP with a 35/85 combination works very well - OK, even better is a S3 for the 35 and a SP for the 85! I suggest you snap a 85f35 from Stephen before they are out of stock - and prices go up!

The 8.5cm with chrome barrel is like 2x or more the weight of the black barrel.

I used to never shoot my 8.5cm because of the weight but after finding a black barrel version, it's my new favorite lens.

First roll nearly done on the new to me 35mm f2.5 W-Nikkor

I do have to say that the 35mm lines on S3 are rather crowded with the 50mm lines.
The f-stop dial is also taking some getting used too.

shortstop, thanks! I used cheap Lomography branded ISO 400 colour negative film. The package says "Made in USA" so its most likely just rebadged Kodak film. I did not use a correction filter for any of the shots.

I have the same combo, and after using Leica's for years and finding
and using it is very different, but I really like it. 🙂

I'm NOT a happy Nikon RF guy today...

Remembering this thread, I took my S2 to my son's violin lesson, thinking I'd be able to load a roll while he showed his teacher how he did last week. Instead, I got talked to by the teacher, and before saying anything I placed my camera on my jacket, which was on what I thought a firm surface: a chair.

Well, somehow, the camera slipped and fell to the (carpeted) floor. I picked it up quickly and put it back on the chair, this time more firmly than before. Lesson over, I thought about loading a roll of BW400CN I had, but first tested the focusing.

It was off... and the focusing run was limited, and the infinite was not infinite, and the RF was out of alignment. In short, it was damaged. That just about ruined my day.

Of course, first thing I did when I got back home was put it in a box, write a quick note to Don Goldberg, and get it ready for shipment either tomorrow or Tuesday.

Otherwise, I'd be there with you, guys... 🙁

I want to drown my sorrows... Oh, well, let's see first what Don determines.

Had a developing hiatus but back in business now and lots to catch up with. These with the 8.5cm f2 Nikkor. As usual TD-201 3minA&B on Fp4+.

Should have added this one earlier really, it nicely demonstrates the separation longer glass can give when really any focal length would have done the job. This, wide open, really concentrates the subject.
