Would you want to check out and compare a Noct-Nikkor on your DF? I'm thinking that the rendering is more romantic than your 58/1.4.
As I tell my boss at work: "No sweat off my balls." Understand that my boss, with a thick accent of a Chinese immigrant, now uses my expression. How unprofessional. LOL.

No, I wouldn't want to fall in love with that lens Cal... you can't find one for "no money!"
It's funny when bosses do that stuff... I keep tabs on it as insurance for later use in reminding them they aren't perfect.

I didn't realize that it came with the turret finder. Isn't it just ltm mount? I noticed that your beoon has a ltm-to-m adapter.
That finder should be pretty good for checking infinity and rendering on ltm lenses.
Christian,
My BEOON came with a bonus 35/135 Leitz vintage/period correct M to LTM adapter. All the extension tubes are LTM except for extension tube "A" which has a M-mount.
The BEOON also comes with a lupe that attaches to the camera mount, but I basically could not focus. The instructions and charts use a 50mm lens, but I'm using a 65mm Viso lens which interestingly is a M-mount.
Anyways all this gets mighty confusing... LOL.

John,
My boss kinda freaked out due to the uncertainty caused by Jury Duty. On my second day of duty he called me right before I was leaving my house. Anyways it ended up being a screaming match. Basically I have him fingered for violating Federal Law. Let me say this, my boss gets crazy anxious, and I give him rage attacks where he looses his cool, not that he is cool at all. Basically he is the type that worries about rain on a bright and sunny cloudless day.
Understand that my boss reminds me of my dad (Chinese immigrant, poor English, rigid thinking, socially isolated) and practically everything I do annoys him, just like how I annoyed my now dead dad. There exists an interesting cultural dynamic because I am about 5 years younger than my boss, and my boss was the eldest son in his family. Along with this advanced age culturally is a supposed advantage of superiority and entitlement. Of course this does not go over so well with me. LOL.
You could not get an odder couple. BTW my boss is thick boned and short like my dad.

Nikon D3X update: I kinda figured out that the 45/2.8P for some unknown reason is an easy to focus lens on the D3X, and on top of that because it has so few elements being a simple Tessar design combined with NIC (Nikon Intergrated Coating) offers mucho contrast and saturated color. Anyways the look and rendering is of slide film, and somehow I get this hybrid B&W with color thing happening. I really like this lens on my D3X along with the 28/1.4 AF-D. The Noct-Nikkor and Leica 50 Lux-R "E60" kinda have vague focus on the D3X.
Also last night shot the D3X with the SB-910 street style for Maggie's blog. Interesting results using the 28/1.4 AF-D painting with light on a dark canvas using TTL flash.
DEATH MARCH: Baby-Dog has been muy annoying lately, so yesterday I took him shooting with me on a 7 hour walk. I headed crosstown to 100th Street and Riverside Park. Along the way Beagle-Face started braying like a herd of hound dogs, and lunging at any living creature. I started heading downtown and by 79th Street he settled down and was not so savage. We walked downtown until I hit Canal Street and then we walked back home to East Harlem. Last night when I looked at his nails they were almost gone and were worn down to almost nibs.
So this morning I was expect some good behavior, but he had another one of his barking attacks and disturbed the neighborhood at six AM this morning. Mucho annoying.
A hipster girl gentrifier had a "East Harlem Jack-In-The-Box" surprise the other day when I was walking Baby-Dog. I heard this girl scream like she was being murdered; because she was throwing out some garbage when she lifted the lid off the can a big rat jumped and scurried. I saw the rat and is was still day. "Welcome to East Harlem," I say. LOL.

Bob,
The 45/2.8P has a mucho fast focus throw and for some unknown reason the focus is really snappy.
I used a Nikon circular polorizer with the 45/2.8P and the contrast and saturation is a bit exaggerated in a Calzone way.
Also I must be getting old because the D3X is kinda compact with this tiny pancake lens.

John,
Any Sunday is good for me. Perhaps make it early in the month so that we can exploit the warmer more pleasant part of the month for shooting.
Already Tuesday and Wednesday next week look to be very mild and spring like. I'm taking off both days.

Cal, only accessories are the masks - my plan was to digitize negatives (I have had such excellent use from the cheap Wolverine scanner, I want to move it to the next level!)
Only digital body have is Nex-7, so my question is what length lens I need for the APS sensor??
Thanks regarding the 13th, I already need to come to the city that day!

Randy,
A normal lens for the format, but here is the trick: it need to be able to focus 1:1.
I bought a 65/3.5 Elmar that is a Visoflex lens, but I don't have the focus mount for macro that allows for 1:1. I also have a 90/4.0 Macro Elmar which I think will be great for medium format negatives, but I need the Macro adapter to get 1:1 magnification.
I'm now thinking that I could buy a M-mount to Nikon F-mount adapter and use my 55 Macro with extension tube to get 135 negatives, but a longer lens would better suit medium format.
You did not get the extension tubes? There should be 4 marked A,B,C, and D. Tube "A" has a M-mount built in. All the other tubes are screw mount. The camera mount on the top of the BEOON is LTM, and my BEOON came with a Leitz 35/135 LTM to M-mount adapter. Bonus.
Pick a Macro lens, but know you will need an extension tube to get 1:1. Anyways Macro gets much complicated and confusing.
Sorry for the head ache. LOL.

Cal, I have one tube - looking at ebay pictures, mine has the 'long' tube with tapered end, which must be A. But I already attached a camera to the top, and I am sure it is M mount (?)
The extension tubes are available from a guy in Germany - which do you think I need for 135 and MF? Probably premature question until I know what lenses I can use.
I actually have a Minolta macro lens, and I think there is an adapter to M ? But of course I need to check focal length.
Randy
Edit: I was being a dimwit - I have all the pieces !! The B, C and D tubes are assembled together!

Randy,
The BEOON is a confusing device. LOL.
Glad to hear that you have a complete one. If you can mount a M-body on the top know that you also got a bonus LTM to M-mount adapter.
The four extention tubes are clearly marked, but the one maked "A" is on the bottom instead of the side. It is a M-mount. Know that the top of the BEOON is LTM and all extension tubes are also LTM except tube "A."
I'm thinking that if you use a camera that uses a crop factor that for example a normal lens on a M8 is I believe a 35mm. Basically the BEOON was designed to be used with a 50, but using a 50 on a downsized sensor makes the 50 a telephoto and there will be less magnification if my understanding is correct.
I'm rethinking everything, so what I know might be wrong. I'm equally confused, but because I'm stubborn I know one day I will figure it out.
One way to look for the right focal length is to think of what would be the focal length of the enlarger lens for the format. This is how I determined that my 90/4.0 Macro Elmar would be the best lens for medium format negatives.
Also know that in the original instructions that they show a 50 collapsible lens in the ill-A-straight-tions. Anyways crop factors give me headaches. I'll bring a copy of the instructions that might add a little bit of clarity, and also one of my extra magnification charts from Leitz.

So AccidentialIcon.com is now used as an example on Square Space's website.
Another event is that Uniquo and United Arrow are kinda dueling by reposting their respective ad campaigns that both feature Maggie. It seems competitive.
Went to the Leica Store in SoHo to have another look at the SL. What a "Monster" with the 24-90 zoom, even by Calzone standards. Basically I am trying to fully utilize my legacy glass, and the SL basically can mount every small format lens I own, but I primarily want it for my Noct-Nikkor and Leica 50 Lux-R "E60." Anyways I never took notice that I own 7 lenses that can be considered normal.
Part of my justification is that I need to send my Monochrom in for sensor replacement; another is that these two fast 50's mentioned above display vague focus on the D3X. Also know that John lent me his 58/1.4 AF-G and now I see that I can't live without one. The D3X has the 28.1.4 AF-D also, and I kinda love the 45/2.8P AIS which works mucho well on the D3X.
Yesterday Maggie had to buy a new computer so I met her at the Apple store in Grand Central. Shot 4 rolls of some film that Tung had given me at 650 ISO on the SL2-MOT with 50 Lux.
In the Apple Store while waiting for the new computer to get configured I opened a slit like window that displayed chandeliers, a hallway, and a pedestrian bridge. Anyways I think I got a novel shot. I bracketed exposure and F-stops to take advantage of the opportunity. Normally all thess slit windows are closed, but Maggie's salesman allowed me to open one. The shot has a chandelier about 7 feet away, and I get the bottom third in the top of my shot. Not sure how the Coma will work or not. Could be an iconic shot.
