Marking another one off the list

Lynx-14E, that is. Got one in yesterday that needed some repairs, and got to looking at it...well, one thing led to another, and I fixed the darn thing. Most of it. Can't get to the metering parts around the lens yet because I had to pound out the filter ring, and for some reason I don't have any 58mm stuff to size it with. So I can't take the lens apart yet to check the wipers or the resistors. It can wait though, because I'll just use a shoe mount meter, or Sunny-16. And I'm out of seal material, so that will have to be done later. Other than that, I'm really happy about getting one of the premier Yashicas that had eluded me so far.

The Lynx 14 is a lovely camera with, in my opinion, a better lens than the Electro series. Congratulations and enjoy shooting with it!

I think my 14E is great, a little big and heavy, but great. Happy to hear that you have got yours working.

Better than and Electro huh? I have a GSN that I think is almost the only camera I need it does everything so well ... do I now need a 14E to check? just in case 🙂 I believe the shutter button is much better than the Electro because the GSN forever to trip sometimes.

Bgb, you are so right about the shutter button. The Lynx has a nice springy snap to it, and with the weight of the camera, you don't have to worry about shake when punching the button quickly.

I didn't need a Lynx, as I have a few other Yashica rangefinders to keep me occupied, but I like the thought of being able to take photos without battery problems, and being in full control of the shutter and aperture. I'd have been just as happy with a plain 14, or even 5000, but this was the one that presented itself at the time. And the repairs that were needed helped to keep me in practice.
