"Mass Production" M60 style M coming on March 10th?

Wow, I don't get on the forum regularly and this is kind of interesting. But unfortunately, with all this talk about Q electronics, EVF, etc., I am betting that Leica will again miss what I am looking for.

I just want a camera with manual controls (including a frameline lever and ISO) and FF like my MPs. Until then, I'll just keep the M8. How many variants have we had now of digital Ms?

I can't quite put my finger on it. But, it seems like Leica is just "rolling dice" when they pick a product configuration. Of course, if they are making money, who I am to criticize?

In retrospect, I should have bought an M9 but I suspected that given the same basic electronics as the M8 that the M9 would choke on the bigger files. (My M8 can seemingly handle 10MB just good enough.)

Sooo...any new news on the Leica M-D announcement thing?

...or is Leica Corporate awaiting the results of today's primaries? :)

Robt.

To use an analogy from writing there is Handwriting, and writing on a Computer. Handwriting is forward "thinking" you write and don't stop until you're finished you make mistakes etc... Writing on a PC is backward writing you write and you constantly check for mistakes because you see them and you can correct them immediately. There are advantages to both approaches. But the single biggest advantage of writing by hand is the flow once you're in the flow you don't stop until you have finished the paragraph, text, sentence. Rarely so with a computer. The disadvantage of handwriting is that you have to correct a lot and unless you have beautiful handwriting you have to type the text into a computer anyway.
The same thing applies to LCD screens without screen you don't check whether the image went well you are in an uninterrupted flow but you have the same disadvantage as handwrinting you have to edit later.
Personaly I prefer having a flow that's why I believe this camera to be a winner but different kinds of photographers have different needs, same with writers. Leica now gives the photographer a choice a Camera without LCD will not be interesting to a lot of people but on the other hand will be interesting to a lot of people. Those who don't get it will never get it because they have different needs as those who get it and will use it.

Dominik, I really like this analogy. It fits for me. I never really learned to write. I did learn to print at least. But, this is exactly the problem I have writing. Maybe it doesn't fit everybody. But it certainly reflects my "flow" problem in writing.

There is an awful lot of pent up grousing among members here about why we don't like this camera that we were never going to buy anyway.
We can't wait much longer to complain about this camera, whatever it is. Leica hear us, and reveal it already! Our cup runneth over with pre-fab complaints. Too expensive for sure; lets get that out of the way now! And that sensor! It's 2016! Not enough megapickles!

Looks great. Really, all I ask for is a digital M2. No screen, just replace the film with a digital sensor with good dynamic range. And as axiom mentioned, reduce the digital M bloat.

All I want is the economic advantage of digital, (no film costs), with the simplicity of an M6. With a histogram inside the the viewfinder that can be turned on/off.

Perfect. Sums it up.

I’ll happily admit to being a clueless photographer, but I find the LCD an advance of digital photography which expands our creative options.
Chimping which you refer to is the least important part.

As i said, whenever I find nostalgia creeping up to the extent of rejecting all advances of the last decade and a half, I will leave my digital gear at home and take my M6, M3 or iiif, depending on the level of Luddism I feel at the time. No need to castrate a modern camera.

I wonder if they'll put a histogram in the viewfinder
