Matching a Jupiter-9 with a Zorki-S

Hello!

I bought a Jupiter-9 some years ago and I used it with a Zorki-4 successfully. After some tinkering & collimation this couple worked with all distances.
But now I want to use the Jupiter-9 mounted on a Zorki-S. At first, I did the classical test with meter stick and the results were of disaster. Blurred images everywhere!
Since the Zorki-S is bottom loaded with no removable back, I could not collimate the Jupiter-9 to this camera directly.
Could you reveal a viable method for matching this lens to my Zorki-S?

I'm thinking maybe it is the the Zorki-S that is off instead of the J-9, since it worked well with your Z-4 (which I assume worked well with other lenses)? Have you tried other lenses on the Zorki-S?

A depth micrometer, measuring the exact distance from the flange to the film plane (with film in the gate - using a metal shim of the same width is even better, as the metal won't dimple under the pressure of the probe, whereas plastic might do so).
Compare measurements between the Zorki-4 and the Zorki-S, an then you'll know what amount of shimming (or scraping) is needed.

It works perfectly with its original Industar-22 lens, even at shortest distance.

I have removed a layer of paper shims and then I tested 3 Jupiter-9 lenses with my Zorki-S. The "control camera" was a Zorki-6 for comparison- its wide rangefinder base enables accurate focussing.
While Zorki-6 proved quite sufficient with all 3 Jupiter-9 lenses, Zorki-S worked with only 1 quite well.
Now I suspect that Zorki-S does not fit with any Jupiter-9 wide open at closest distance. The rangefinder base is not good enough.
One should stop the lens to get acceptable results.

Do you share my opinion?
