With 600 viewers of this tread, perhaps the turnout might be big, unless there are only a few viewers or a small goup of them that are much more obsessive than normal or worse than me.

Just trying to crunch the numbers. In the past few Meet-Ups, the turnout has been small where you could actually talk with everyone. I don't see half a dozen people viewing this thread a hundred times each.

Perhaps thirty people have been following this thread and still that would give each of them 20 views. With a dozen views each it means fifty people. I speculate that perhaps we could have a surprising turnout.

WARNING: A new Rangefinder is expected to be delivered to me this Thursday or Friday. As usual getting a parcel delivered is always an adventure and it doesn't matter who the carrier is: they all are bad/lame. Does anyone like medium format rangefinders? Hint: I will call this M6 Junior, and it isn't a Leica. If I am lucky I will have a cool camera to show off Sunday.

More detail needed. John (another Asian) from last month's Meet-Up also has a M9. He also had that killer black paint M2.

At the last Meet_up we had two M9's. Jeff I believe had the new one, and we called Jon's M9 the "Vintage" one because it was about four months old. LOL.

Yes, I like the Fuji ones very much. However, I haven't used them in 15 years or so.

My guess is you got a Mamiya?

I got a 6 MF. As you know I love going wide. Wanted to keep the square to go with my Rolleiflex. With the pair I have my normal and my wide. Right now I have to do more pushups for the next time we go shooting.

I expect/hope the Mamiya 6 will be lighter than my Nikon F3 with motor drive. Probably about the same size (big) LOL. Probably not as obnoxious (no loud motordrive). Paid the premium for condition. I'll see.

Leica M6 and Mamiya (M6). Hence the name "Junior."

So is the Nikon F3 with motordrive heavier than a Mamiya 6 with a wide? You should see the looks I get carrying that Nikon rig around the city. With a AH-2 hand strap it looks like a weapon. I'm surprised that the police let me on the subway with it.

What glass do you have on your M6? LOL.

I have 52 rolls of TXP 320 in 220 in the fridge BTW. I shoot mostly B&W, but I shoot a lot. Moving later this year to set up my Beseler 23C in a darkroom. Where I live now the number 7 train rattles the house every 3-4 minutes. Its like in the "Blues Brothers" film. On the second floor, when I lay in bed it vibrates when the train goes by.

The Meet-Ups are a great place to meet some serious/crazy photographers that will inspire you. Hope to see you soon.

Hopefully Fed Ex delivers. Where I live, Long Island City, although it is NYC, if I am extreamely lucky I will recieve a delivery. Had everything bad that could happen to a package happen to me. Two day priority mail takes over a week.

Take a day off work so UPS doesn't return the package to the shipper on the third attempt; they leave a message and forget to ring the bell. USPS never leaves a message: they just skip my house most of the time.

Sometimes when I acually get a delivery, I consider it a miracle, but I would likely have more gear if it were not for all these problems. I love New York, and I pay extra for it.

well i would expect your F3 with motordrive to be more of a beast than the mamiya 6. the mam6 really isn't that much heftier than a leica, especially with the sweet collapsible lens mount.

i actually lucked out and was able to assemble the full kit, all 3 lenses, for a decent price. most likely not as mint as yours will be, though.

oh and i do love shooting 220 with it. so simple to just rotate the pressure plate...

i actually shot a roll of 320 TX on it recently, you can check it out on my flickr if you're interested. it starts on the 2nd page of my photostream, i think.
 
Cal, have you tried having stuff sent to your work? or would that be more disasterous? At one job, I became friends with the people in the mail room and it worked out great.

My Micromanager at work is not cool at all. Unfortunately I am the last guy on the bottom of a huge inverted pyrimid.

The good news is that I got a tracking notice and expected delivery is tomorrow. At the moment I already have a 50/4.0 that I will likely return. It has a minute defect that needs close inspection to see, otherwise in great shape. As you know I has wanted this rig for a while, and somehow I feel lucky. My statistical analysis suggests a high probability of a delivery before the next Meet-Up.

You are a lucky dog. Would it be a bother to bring that whole kit to the Meet-Up?

I will definately check out your flicker. When I'm not shooting, looking is the next best thing.

I look forward to having a big camera that handles like a Leica. I guess the future will be is how many images do I want to capture. Already have very muscular arms from carrying two Nikons all the time.

IMPORTANT UPDATE: When I was planning the May Meet-Up I was expecting the more typical/usual small intimate group; but , like the famous January Meet-Up, this Meet-Up has the potential to get out of control.

Originally I was thinking that bringing a small group to see a private show in a secured public space as not being a problem. Unfortunately there has to be a limit to how big this viewing can be. With over 800 views to this thread there seems to be a probable big turnout. Yesterday there were only 600 views. Sloan-Kettering is a Cancer hospital and there are some very sick people there. I don't think I will have a problem bringing in several seperate groups of six people at a time for 15 minute intervals to see this work. The hallway where the prints are displayed is perhaps 40-45 feet long. We just need to keep this low-key and use disgression. Thanks in advance for your understanding.

So far the only viewers who have committed are Scott and John. I need to limit the amount of people to no more than twenty-five which would allow 15 minutes of viewing for four seperate groups.

This work is important and does a better job of displaying the work of a recognized master than the book published by "Aperature" that I found by the 59th Street bridge. None of the prints on view are in the book BTW. Technically the prints are not only large, but superb. The amount that could be learned about editing: mucho.

This series of twenty-four prints is number 16 out of an edition of 60. While not a retrospective, it is clearly the best body of work that sums up a photographic career that I ever saw. Imagine taking twenty-four of your best shots ever that were assembled into the most perfectly edited display. Countless times ove my twelve year history at Sloan-Kettering I have veiwed these prints in differant random order and it doesn't matter. This is some very-very interesting work.

For those that are not able to see this work at this Meet-Up, I say there will be other times, but for now there has to be a rigid limit of 25. Sorry. If less people are on this list we will just extend the viewing time. Thanks again for your understanding. Unfortunately, I still need this day-job. Sorry for the last minite surprises, but I'm famous for them. Didn't mean to make the May Meet-Up like a lottery, but hurry up and reserve your spot. Only twenty-three left. Hurry-up.

BTW I perfer to have one small group so that we can avoid stress and deadlines.

I would still like to know who is committed to see the Berenice Abbott work though. So far its just you, me and Scott; that would be fine.

BTW did you read my response above befor I edited it? I'm a funny guy, I say, but don't feel bad for my boss.
