maybe a dumb question…re. converting raw image in camera

And definitely check out the RAW coversion menu. You can make many JPG variations from each RAW file. Experiment with the hilight and shadow tone stuff ... wicked cool.

This feature, for me, is THE "killer" feature of the fuji cameras (and thank you, willie_901 for pointing it out months ago).

FYI: Olympus has been offering in-camera raw conversions for over a decade. I'm sure some others offer it now too. It's an excellent feature. In a pinch, you can do almost everything that Olympus Viewer 3 can do with the camera alone.

I tried it the other day, my main problem was the fact that the LCD on the camera is crap compared to a computer screen so the conversion didn't look anywhere close to what I thought once I saw it on a computer.

I was on the other hand doing the conversion in a completely dark room so my eyes may have been fooled by the bright camera screen. Perhaps I should try it again in normal light. :)

its a neat feature but hampered by not having a batch output option or the ability to create a lossless file.
To be fair though, this isn't Fuji's fault. Its just that there isn't enough processing power on board for a feature that is used by such a small fraction of owners.
